Dear Campers

Well, it seems that I just could not stay away. I have returned to Tribune Bay Campsite this spring with a sense of renewal. I will look forward to seeing long time friends of Tribune Bay once again. I've missed 7 summers and much has changed. Still, it's a bit like putting on a comfortable old sweater.

For those who don't remember me, I managed Tribune Bay Campsite for 12 years, from 1994 until my daughter and I moved away in early 2006.

I hope I will be able to maintain the quiet, family atmosphere that Jodi and Lee worked hard to uphold. I am excited about the support team that will be working with me to make your camping experience the best ever. Our season is shorter than it was in the old days, opening only on June 15 and closing September 15.

Here's hoping that the lovely mild winter and fabulous Easter weather we've had are indications of a summer of super camping weather.

The festival is August 1 through 10 this year. Sites are booking up fast, so give me a call. Let me help you find the perfect spot for your vacation on Hornby Island.

Until then...

Friday the 13th

Well, we're sitting in the office waiting for the late ferry. Apparently there have been ferry issues between the mainland and Vancouver Island. Oh, here are some happy campers now. Time for another few check-ins, probably close to 60 now today.
It's been warm and humid, thundershowers today.
Filling up this weekend and through the next 6 weeks. Still some spots but you better call soon!

see ya.

07 Trib Season

Well it's been a bit of a slow start, but we're open and rolling.

There have been alot of happy campers lately, finally getting to make their reservations after a frustrating but patient spring. Bookings have been completed by many hands this year through a management change, but we're finally getting people slotted in and set up for their vacation.

The campground received a bit of a battering with the stormy winter, but is looking nice now with lots of green grass.

Call us to reserve a spot for some sunny Hornby dayz. Please be patient with trying to get through on the phone, this is a very popular place and we only have one line.

Jaelithe and Steve are our names, and we look forward to seeing everyone enjoy this great place. See you soon.

Welcome Pat Mullan and Ben Berkeveld

Dear Campers,
Please welcome Pat Mullan and Ben Berkeveld to Tribune Bay Campsite! They will be your hosts from now on. They have been islanders for at least 5 years and I know you'll enjoy their fun attitude. They are eager to please. Be good to them! Thanks again for everything. Have a great summer!

Dear Campers,

Campers,
After 12 summers managing Tribune Bay Campsite, I've decided that it's time to move on. My daughter Becky and I are moving to Victoria. As you might imagine, it is hard to leave our beautiful Hornby Island and the community that we have grown to love. It has been the best place on earth to raise my two daughters. Now we are ready for a change.

I have gained so much experience in this job. It hasn't all been easy, but I've learned a great deal about people and about myself. I have to say that my favorite part of the job has been seeing parents spending healthy, good quality time with their children.

Most of the people who come to this campground are into healthy living, beauty, nature and good clean fun. Thank you for being good sports, for being respectful of each other and of the island and her delicate ecology. Thank you for recycling, for caring and for loving the beach, the rocks, the trails, the trees as much as, if not more than Hornby citizens.

I feel it has been an honored position for me to have gotten to know all of you, as well as wonderful staff members over the years, suppliers, repair people and other businesses on the island. I have been fortunate and I take with me many fond memories.

But I will likely see many of you again, when I return to the island from time to time as a fellow vacationer.

Yours truly,

Linda Lake
